Raleigh, NC – April 12, 2007: Digital Switching Systems LLC, a subsidiary of DNA Group, Inc, and a leading supplier of mechanical and electronic switching solutions to the marine and transportation industries, announced today the introduction of its “SmartPort” firmware installation feature for its PowerCore™ Family of Power Management Enclosures (PME). Being offered to the marketplace as a value-enhanced option, the SmartPort allows value-added resellers (VARs) and high product mix OEMs to conveniently install PME configuration firmware via the PME’s 4-wire communication port. VARs and OEMs will now be able to download on to their laptops configuration firmware supplied by DSS through its web-site portal and then, through a simple and convenient serial interface, install this firmware into PMEs that contain the SmartPort feature.
“The addition of the “SmartPort” feature to the Pi-Series is the first of several developments by DSS to put firmware configuration and installation capabilities in the customer’s hands,” said Ken Wood, DSS Vice-President & General Manager. “Now our VARs and OEMs can have the option of stocking “vanilla” PMEs and configuring them as specifically dictated by their customer’s demand.”
The SmartPort firmware installation feature will start shipping as a PowerCore™ PME option in May, 2007.
